Service
Specialist crypto and digital asset tax advice, built around how you actually hold, trade and report.
At a glance
Tax and accounting advice on cryptoassets for UK individuals and crypto businesses, including capital gains calculations, reporting to HMRC and putting earlier years right.
We gather your transaction history across exchanges and wallets, calculate gains and losses under HMRC's rules, and prepare the figures for your tax return or a disclosure. For businesses, we provide accounting, tax and structuring support.
01
Situations we help with
Swapping one cryptoasset for another counts as a disposal for capital gains tax, valued in pounds at the time, even if you never cashed out. Spending crypto on goods or services is a disposal too.
We work out the gains on every swap and report them on your return.
Under new international reporting rules, exchanges now collect their users' details and transactions and pass them to tax authorities, including HMRC. HMRC already writes to people when its data does not match their returns.
We check your position against what HMRC is likely to see, and put things right before it asks.
Depending on how the arrangement works, rewards can be taxed as income or as gains. Moving tokens into a lending or liquidity protocol can itself count as a disposal.
We look at how each arrangement works and apply the right treatment to it.
Depending on what happened, you may be able to claim a loss, for example where tokens have become worthless. HMRC does not usually accept a loss for tokens that were stolen.
We work out what can be claimed and make the claim on your return.
HMRC has a dedicated route for disclosing unreported crypto gains and income. Coming forward before HMRC contacts you usually means lower penalties.
We calculate what is owed and make the disclosure for you.
Transfers between your own wallets are not disposals, but missing data often makes tax software overstate gains. HMRC's matching rules also apply to each token.
We reconcile your exchanges and wallets to build an accurate gains and losses position.

What our clients say
“Having worked with RMHO for several tax seasons, I cannot recommend their service enough. I came to them with a complex situation and, frankly, without knowing where to start. Rob and his team guided me through the reporting process with clear instructions and were always available to answer my questions. Being able to reach them by phone, email or WhatsApp was hugely important to me, and the team consistently delivered. They clearly set out what we were working on and what the next steps would be, so I always knew what was happening and why. You can trust RMHO to handle your requirements, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.”
